Grande Ronde Camp Trips

The only way to get the full experience of the Grande Ronde River in Oregon is by floating and fishing the 37 mile road-less “Wild and Scenic” section of the river. With towering basalt cliffs, mixed coniferous forests, abundant wildlife, and large rainbow trout and steelhead, this 3-6 day trip is truly one of a kind. Let our experienced guides help you catch trophy sized rainbow trout and steelhead throughout the day while our “baggers” down river set up a luxurious camp and prepare meals, so when you are done with your day of fishing you can kick back, relax and enjoy the views.

Stonefly Season

Mid-June to early July provides the most electric dry fly fishing of the year. Watching trophy sized rainbow trout explode out of fast water will surely excite any angler. The Grande Ronde and Wallowa river have a world class golden stonefly hatch that makes the fish go crazy for large, top water dry flies. Our guides work hard to hold the boat on the best water so you can continue to cast throughout the day, maximizing your success. For those who love dry fly fishing, this is a must do trip. Our most popular spring stonefly trips are between 3 and 4 days in length.

Early Fall Trout/Steelhead Combo

Mid-September to mid-October, can provide one of the most exciting fishing experiences for any angler. We use a variety of tactics from fishing streamers from the boats, to nymphing from the bank, giving us successful and action packed days on the water. On any given cast it can be a mystery of whether you might hooked a small 12” rainbow, a steelhead, or a 4lb native rainbow trout. Add in the amazing road-less “Wild and Scenic” canyon, abundant wildlife, and beautiful camps, and this trip is sure to top the list of Oregon fishing experiences. Our early fall trips run 4-5 days in length.

Late Fall Steelhead

From mid-October through November, our focus begins to direct towards steelhead fishing. With abundant runs of both native and hatchery fish, the Grande Ronde provides an excellent destination to enjoy a remote multi-day fishing trip, targeting the best runs available for 36 miles, that are only accessible by boat. Grande Ronde steelhead are renowned for their willingness to eat flies. Whether it is swinging skaters, or fishing with intruders, the aggressive fish of the Grande Ronde are sure to excite the most experienced angler. Fall steelhead floats can be 4-6 days in length.

About our camp

After your day on the water has concluded, you will arrive at a fully set camp that will be constructed each day by our “baggers.” They will row ahead in our gear boat and begin work, setting up tents, cots, chairs, dining tables, and our camp kitchen. Depending on the weather, we will set up our 12’ by 14’ canvas wall tent with a wood stove for a comfortable place to relax and dine. We also provide Kelty eight-man tents, which will comfortably accommodate two guests per tent, with cots, pads, and room for your bags.
